The city has always represented the place of concentration, of the community, of free men, the place of encounter, of socialisation, the germ of civilisation, of economies and of Western liberalism.

For centuries, European cities have represented one of the most successful outcomes of the co-evolution between man, nature and culture; they have been the image of a wise use of environmental, territorial and landscape resources and of interaction with human capital capable of imagining, realising and building an artificial 'second nature', the highest and most complex abstraction and expression of human talent. And yet, considering the epochal challenges dictated by climate change, to which we are called upon to respond with extreme urgency, and the post-pandemic situation that will inevitably arise, one wonders what lessons we are learning for the future of human relations, of our forms of social aggregation, of our cities and therefore of our way of inhabiting the earth.

 Are we going to continue to design services, common spaces, and housing while continuing to exclude a huge slice of the underprivileged humanity, or are we going to start to deeply rethink the urban aggregation model, taking into account the social determinants, those of well-being and health, reviewing the scale of priorities in order to - as written in 2030 SDG no. 11 - "make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable".

 IEREK organizes the 5th edition of the international "Online" conference on "Green Urbanism" to help find clear insights to the many levels that are required to achieve this desired balance in urban cities. Academics, scholars, researchers, policymakers and practitioners are invited to participate in this conference to contribute to this 3-day content-filled event and benefit from the opportunity of networking with experts in the field and sharing experiences is maximized.
